It Is Now Completely Clear to Everyone That Law School Is for Suckers

Hamilton Nolan · 03/20/12 09:38AM

We must admit that we will never ever tire of directing your attention to the accumulation of evidence that "law school" is, by and large, a massive fraud perpetrated upon society's most overacquisitive young driftabouts, and one whose effect is to turn out a massive class of highly indebted functionaries whose skill set is not only undeveloped to the point of worthlessness, but that, when developed, is, for the most part, detrimental to the function of justice. The fact that law school's popularity is crumbling away as the magnitude of the systemic scam becomes ever more apparent can only be taken as a redeeming ray of hope for the future of our nation's collective critical thinking skills.

New York Times Tightens the Screws on Freeloaders

Hamilton Nolan · 03/20/12 08:42AM

Since you're reading this site while you should be doing something more productive, chances are that you're the kind of self-proclaimed "internet-savvy" media consumer who said to yourself last year, "Hey, I don't care that the New York Times started an online paywall, because it comes with 20 free articles per month, and besides, it's full of easy holes for an internet-savvy consumer such as myself!"

Tennessee Bill Could Put Abortion Doctors at Risk

Louis Peitzman · 03/19/12 08:06PM

There's a new bill in the Tennessee House of Representatives, and its seemingly innocuous name is rather misleading. The "Life Defense Act of 2012" (H.B. 3308) would require the Tennessee Department of Health to publish way more information on abortions and on the doctors that provide them.

The Duchess of Cambridge Opens Her Mouth

Louis Peitzman · 03/19/12 07:24PM

Kate Middleton — or the Duchess of Cambridge, if you want to be correct about it — gave her first public speech ever at a children's hospital in Ipswich. This is mostly a big deal because it was the first one, but also because she was anxious. As she told one guest, "I find doing speeches nerve-wracking." See, it's just like that movie The King's Speech, except she's a duchess and the stakes were significantly lower.

John McCain knows a thing or two about nasty. Appearing on NBC's Meet the Press, he reflected on the current campaigns for a Republican presidential candidate to face off against Obama in November. Romney, Santorum, and Gingrich have all been criticized for waging war against each other in the form of attack ads in key primary states.

Louis Peitzman · 03/18/12 10:00AM

TMZ has posted new video of Jason Russell's naked public meltdown, in which he can be heard screaming "fuck" and something about the devil. On the one hand, this footage gives a much closer look at what happened — before you get too excited, his penis is tastefully blurred. On the other hand, the new footage continues to dispel rumors that Russell was publicly masturbating, unless of course that happened offscreen.

Teen Mom Cast Will Finally Leave the Nest

Louis Peitzman · 03/18/12 09:15AM

The four teen moms at the heart of MTV's Teen Mom — Amber, Catelynn, Farrah, and Maci — will be moving on to bigger and better things after the show airs its fourth season this summer. While MTV won't say whether the girls opted to leave so they could focus on their continuing education, or whether MTV forced them out for getting too old, the end result is we'll soon be seeing the last of them, outside of endless reruns.

Oprah's OWN Network announced today that it will be canceling production of Rosie O'Donnell's daily talk show. What talk show? Exactly. In its five months on the air, The Rosie Show has never earned sizable ratings — beginning at only 500,000 viewers and plummeting to an average of 230,000.

Louis Peitzman · 03/17/12 10:45AM

This is a photo of Russian leader Vladimir Putin next to a tiger he shot with a tranquilizer gun in order to help preservationists track it. Or is it?
