Patrick McDonald

A fixture on the downtown scene since the 1970s, McDonald is the dandy who is impossible to miss thanks to his wild outfits, costume jewelry, jaunty hats, and meticulously applied make-up. He's also dabbled with reality TV. In 2009-10, he was a contestant on the Bravo show Launch My Line.
Born in Germany, McDonald grew up in California before he started his career as a model. However, his love for the clothes themselves led him to jobs as an assistant buyer at Barney's, the director of couture at Fabrice, and a staff couturier at John Anthony. These days, he's mostly known for his man-about-town status: he's been featured in publications from PAPER, New York, Soho Style, The New York Times, Sportswear International, and Russian Vogue. McDonald even holds the honor as one of Gotham's 100 Best Dressed New Yorkers. He's also begun to make appearances on TV shows and movies, such as a contestant on the short-lived Bravo show Launch My Line, where people pseudo-related to fashion faced off for the chance to create their own fashion line (Project Runway, but without, you know, design skills), and the documentaries Bill Cunningham New York and The Little House That Could.
