Who

Scott Goodson is founder, CEO, and chief creative officer of boutique ad agency StrawberryFrog, a small shop that boasts big clients like Old Navy.

Backstory

A cosmopolitan Canadian, Goodson grew up speaking French and English in Montreal, where his father ran a printing company. He got his start in advertising in Sweden, working on the Ericsson account for the Swedish agency Welinder, before heading back to Canada to work as the top creative at JWT's Toronto office. In 1996, he migrated to Amsterdam and hatched Strawberry Frog. He opened a New York branch of the office in 2004, moving stateside to run it.

Of note

Since setting up Strawberry Frog in 1996, Goodson has landed work from clients that have historically relied hulking corporate shops like BBDO or McCann-Erickson. Credit Suisse, Heineken, Unisys, Old Navy, Sam's Club, Sprint, Xerox, Morgan Stanley, and auto accounts Hyundai and Mitsubishi have all signed on as clients in recent years, helping Goodson achieve billings of $250 million a year across StrawberryFrog's New York and Amsterdam offices. But while Strawberry Frog has long prided itself on its independence, takeover rumors have mounted over the past year, and it's rumored that Goodson has been in discussions to sell the shop to one of the major ad conglomerates in town.

For the record

He named the agency for the Strawberry Poison Dart Frog, the rarest breed of frog on Earth. The frog is also one of the smallest and nimblest croakers, hence the agency's motto: "In a world of dinosaurs, it's good to be a frog."

Personal

True to his globetrotting resume, Goodson met his wife, who's Swedish, in Greece. They live in Bronxville with their three children.
