Rob Thomas

The Matchbox 20 front man is best known as the voice responsible for the mega-hit song "Smooth." For the record, he is not a Scientologist, nor did he ever sleep with Tom Cruise.
An army brat born in West Germany, Rob Thomas and his band Matchbox 20 was one of many generic man bands of the late-90s/early-aughts that could've faded to obscurity after their one hit, but Thomas had Santana on his side. Providing the vocals to Carlos Santana's multi-Grammy winning song "Smooth" kicked off Matchbox 20's surprisingly prolific career, as well as Rob Thomas' inevitable solo career. Thomas is responsible for such ear worms as "Push," "3 AM," "Unwell," "Bent," and "Lonely No More." and by doing so, found his way into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2004.
Thomas married his wife Marisol Marldonado in 1999. An outspoken liberal, Thomas has written pieces supporting gay marriage for the Huffington Post and boasts a large Twitter following due to his surprisingly clever tweets. [Image via Getty]
