One of the very few African-American women on the benefit circuit, Fales-Hill is an author and the daughter of the late actress/singer Josephine Premice and Timothy Fales.

Born in Rome, Fales-Hill earned her undergrad degree in Paris and went on to study history and literature at Harvard for her masters. She started her writing career on The Cosby Show and graduated to Head Writer and Executive Producer of its spin-off, A Different World. She went on to produce a slew of TV shows, from Kirk, starring douchewad Kirk Cameron, to beloved Suddenly Susan. She continued to write for magazines like Vogue and Glamour before publishing her memoir Always Wear Joy, which was inspired by her mother. She's since diversified with her novel One Flight Up, but is also known for her philanthropy within the city. She's on the boards for the Studio Museum in Harlem and the American Ballet Theater, where she has often chaired the notoriously glamorous spring gala. [Image via Getty]
