A former fashion designer, Mishaan is an interior designer and the owner of the furniture shop Homer. His wife is social fixture Marcia Mishaan.

Born in Columbia, Mishaan attended NYU and Columbia School of Architecture before he landed his first apprenticeship at Philip Johnson. However, stagnant construction markets drove Mishaan into the fashion industry, where he designed sportswear. However, after ten years Mishaan found his way back to his roots, earning his masters from Columbia in finance and real-estate development, and founded his interior design and furniture showroom, Homer. He claims that his foray in the fashion industry was time well spent, as it helped develop his understanding of luxury and quality—and the fashionista clients haven't hurt either. Like most big-name interior designers, he wrote his first book Modern Luxury, just in case the masses cannot afford his "couture" furniture collections. [Image via Getty, with Marcia Mishaan]
