When we're pregaming on Friday nights for our weekly visit to Tiki-Ti, we usually end up watching porn or food shows, but there are other shows on Friday that might tickle your fancy.

WATCH

Friday Night Lights [9 PM, NBC] - It's very strange to talk about this season when we have already seen all the episodes on DirecTV, but for those of you sans [Friday Night Lights-loving neighbors with a] dish, there's some good stuff ahead. Tonight, the show's emotional center, Tami (Connie Britton), takes some flack for not installing a JumboTron. Tyra (Adrianne Palicki) employs some shady campaign tactics in her school election. Tim (Taylor Kitsch) is invited to a fancy dinner by Lyla (Minka Kelly). Matt (Zach Gilford) considers emancipating himself so that he can take care of his grandmother. Maybe the D-plot isn't always exciting, but it's never a distraction or window dressing and the producers treat the characters in an even-handed way that makes it a complete hour of TV, unlike the multi-threaded plots of Brothers & Sisters that fray apart as the episode unfolds. We're not the first to say this, but Minka Kelly (pictured) is a Jessica Biel in the making: A TV hottie working for a beloved show who will someday be playing hot chick rolls in Sandler movies and leathering up for vampire hunting flicks.

Grab a pint of Chubby Hubby and DVR your own Bridget Jones marathon:
Bridget Jones's Diary [8 PM, Oxygen]
Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason [12:25 AM, TBS]
It's scary to think it's been almost a decade since we spent a winter watching report after report about how Renée Zellweger put on the pounds and strapped on an accent to portray the unlucky in love Brit. Renée has dropped the weight, but the movies hold up, especially the scenes with her friends.

KILL

Miss America: Countdown to the Crown [10 PM, TLC] - This was an attempt for TLC to fill some primetime and generate interest in a pageant that no one cares about (the actual pageant airs tomorrow night on TLC). The hook was that by watching Countdown to the Crown and voting, viewers would be able to choose four contestants of the top-15 in the eventual pageant. This would be a novel concept if they let these girls go buckwild, but this was too staid to grab an audience that can watch dudes debasing themselves for Brody Jenner or bisexual chicks choosing suitors. Even tonight's finale in which the contestants put together a talent show doesn't show even a hint of "Bitch poured beer on my weave" potential. Step your game up, TLC.
