Comb Britney For Clues

CBS's comedy power block (The Big Bang Theory through Worst Week) is all repeats tonight, so that leaves an opening for Britney Spears and Christina Applegate to attempt to reconnect with their pasts. Look for lots of mid-season cliff-hangers, series conclusions (Pushing Daisies, Boston Legal), and holiday specials this month. Also, begin the loin-girding process for a spring of American Idol.
WATCH
Britney: For the Record [8 PM, MTV] - In case you missed its premiere last night, check out Brit's damage-control documentary that sets out to prove to a new crop of tween fans that she is sane and approachable. Will this benign infotainment produce big numbers for this week's release of Circus? We're going to say "womanizer" a million times and hope for the best.

Samantha Who? [9 PM, ABC] - In the first of two new episodes tonight, Samantha acts green to impress her do-gooder boyfriend, Owen (James Tupper), while Andrea (Jennifer Esposito) makes a wrong move with her basketballer boyfriend. In the second episode, Samantha discovers an ex of hers while on a family vacation. At times, this show gets a wee bit Lucy & Ethel for our tastes, but considering ABC banked most of their comedy hopes
Boston Legal [10 PM, ABC] - Only two weeks of BL left, and despite coming late to the party, we wish it a fond farewell. Maybe the camera jerks about too often and there's only a handful of truly memorable characters (Christian Clemenson's Jerry Espenson foremost among them), but it's David E. Kelley controlling a tightly wound universe that has at least one good plotline each week. Tonight, Betty White returns as woman of interest and Alan Shore (James Spader) argues in favor of a drug that could help Denny Crane (William Shatner).
TiVo
Gossip Girl [8 PM, CW] - Chuck (Ed Westwick) and Blair (Leighton Meester) make a bet (someone get those two to Gamblers Anonymous) that they can find perfect Snowflake Ball dates for each other. Meanwhile, Aaron's (John Patrick Amedori) ex-girlfriend (Natalie Knepp) crushes on Dan (Penn Badgley). At the very least, see what winter is like in the other important city in the U.S.

Houseguest [8 PM, MY13] - It's hard to believe that a decade has passed since Phil Hartman was murdered and it's scary to think what else he could have done with his ability to create memorable characters had he been given more time. Recapture some of that with this underrated comedy co-starring Sinbad. Sure, it's generally unrefined and the Goth daughter is lame, but even playing the straight man, Hartman is hilarious.
KILL

Inside the Actors Studio: Daniel Radcliffe [8 PM, Bravo] - James Lipton drools as Harry Potter coyly discusses his opinions on wizards, Quidditch and stage nudity. There will be some decent moments, but what do they talk about after the Potter films and his stage work in Equus? Let's give Radcliffe a chance to have a dry spell, a bout with rehab, and a big comeback before we subject him to questioning. JL needs to get Danny McBride in there, you know he's got some stories.
Holiday Switch [9 PM, Lifetime] - Charles in Charge, Baywatch, and especially Blown Away's Nicole Eggert stars as a frustrated housewife who makes a holiday wish and finds out what her life would have been like if she had married her successful high school sweetheart. We're going to listen to "Scenes from an Italian Restaurant" and look through our yearbooks instead.
