It feels like months since we've had any reports on Lindsay Lohan's progress in rehab or seen any paparazzi videos aimed at taking the anonymous out of AA, so decelerated has the once-constant Lohan news cycle become since the chronically exhausted quick-healer checked into the Wonderland Center. Finally, People offers a small update on her status which might temporarily quell the delirium tremens of sudden Lohan deprivation:

Since checking into the pampering Wonderland Center addiction-treatment facility last week, Lindsay Lohan has been keeping a low profile - and loving it.

"She's been sending text messages from rehab saying she's the happiest she has ever been," a pal tells PEOPLE in its new issue. "She seems under control right now."

Lohan, 20, who had planned to attend the Sundance film festival, has instead been taking hikes on the center's lush three acres and attending treatment meetings.

It's a relief that her rehab counselors talked her out of a trip to Sundance, as the enormous strain of being whisked from swag suites to the premiere parties of unseen movies would almost certainly result in a relapse that not even a battalion of Sober Companions could forestall, and it's doubly heartening that the Wonderland staff's commitment to her recovery is so complete that they're even helping foster her budding powers of personal expression, gently editing her "PLS SEND BOOZ. IM DYING HERE. LEAVE VOKDA ON HIKING TRAIL NEAR BIG BLACK ROCK" text messages into more positive messages stressing the good her time off from the Hollywood social scene is doing her.
