The TV In Japan blog pointed us to this video clip of Paris Hilton promoting her new album in the context of a busy-looking Japanese TV show, which, much to our surprise, instantly mesmerized us with the same null-brained stares and canned answers that usually have us reaching for the nearest lacerating object. Perhaps all the animated characters, symbols, and numbers flying across the screen somehow convinced us that if we didn't feed our little virtual heiress her electronic food pellets and smother her with love, our little Parisgochi would keel over and die, softening our usual, reflexively hostile reaction to her moving image.

UPDATE: A reader fluent in Japanese fills us in on some of the juicier tidbits that were lost in translation, including what the show's anchors are giggling about at the end of the video. It's after the jump.

A reader writes:

I've decided to make matters worse for you by translating some of what happens in that Japanese TV interview of Paris Hilton:

She showed up at the press conference 35 min. late.

Before the press conference started, the MC warned the press that if they asked any questions other than about her music, she will "get angry and leave."

Back at the studio, they talked about how expressionless she was, and that she seemed to be staying at a Westin instead of a Hilton. The interviewer mentioned that Paris was so anxious to start her night out, the interview was cut from 20 to 10 minutes.
