There was a moment during Britney Spears' Dateline NBC interview when the singer, in the midst of rhapsodizing about her profound love for housecleaning and laundry, leaned into Matt Lauer and shared, "Yes, I have a maid that comes once a week, but she slacks a little bit." Now, another household staff member, a pool boy with musical aspirations, says he has also fallen victim to Frau Spears' exacting standards:

"I was hanging out a little bit," ex-employee Jon LaLane told In Touch Weekly. "She came out screaming at Kevin for lying around, then looked at me like I was to blame." The next day, LaLane, says he got a call from Spears' people, telling him not to report for work. LaLane, son of the famed exercise guru Jack LaLane, also has a band, and he says he and K-Fed would talk music. But, he claims, Spears would get jealous when her hubby talked to anyone else.

"She wants Kevin on a leash," LaLane told the mag. "She fires everybody. I figured, 'Why not me?' I just didn't expect her to be so mean." He adds: "It's a revolving door there. She's not the nice person everyone thinks she is."

It may be difficult for many to reconcile this picture of a stern, merciless matriarch Britney with the gum-smacking, Hee Haw background player we thought we knew. As any mother can tell you, however, finding competent help is next to impossible: The last thing you need is a pool boy on the payroll who'll only monopolize your useless-as-it-is husband, leaving you to have to fish your sobbing toddler out of the drain with a leaf skimmer yourself.
