Sarah Silverman, who recently joked about her "rape" by elderly talk show host Joe Franklin in The Aristocrats, takes on a potentially more dangerous subject by explaining why she prefers one of Hollywood's celebrity-courting cults fame-inclusive spiritual inspiration societies to another:

Sarah Silverman says she has gotten into kabbala. "It's like the best slice of being Jewish without the 'noseness' of it all," the equal-opportunity offender told Teri Hatcher, Julianne Moore and others at an L.A. benefit for tuberous sclerosis research. "It's different from Scientology — which is totally gay," she joked. "I mean their slogan is, 'Scientology, it's like a party in your a—.'"

With Scientology at the height of its visibility, they probably won't risk disappearing Silverman, but she can be assured that she won't go unpunished for her remarks: the next time she runs into Jenna Elfman at an event, Silverman will be engaged in an uncomfortably intense discussion about just how seriously the Church takes its assplay, a fate far worse than anything she might have endured in the back of a white van.
