Kathleen Turner may no longer be the sex symbol she was back in her Body Heat days, having turned vaguely mannish over the years, and inexplicably picking up a husky, Eastern European accent somewhere along the way. She's still going strong, however, with a career-resuscitating turn in the Broadway revival of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf about to premiere in London, a booking that offers her an excuse to avoid the dreaded Oscars:

The 51-year-old says, "The ceremony is so boring.

"The best fun I ever had was when I watched the whole shebang on a large flatscreen TV with TOM HANKS.

"We got two rubber dart guns and spent the whole night shooting sucker darts at everyone as they came up on screen.

"I really recommend it. We found it really invigorating. There were round circles all over the screen by the end."

Hats off to Turner for candidly offering up this telling insight into the true nature of perennial "nice guy" Tom Hanks, who, should he prove to be a ceremony no-show, we can assume will be at home, unleashing a supply of suction cup-tipped projectiles at the televised foreheads of the objects of his pent-up Hollywood contempt. We understand he has one special golden dart reserved specifically to pick off Paul Giamatti, before the celebrated actor gets any closer to unseating Hanks from his "universally adored shlumpy everyman who once in a while plays disabled when he feels like winning an award" throne.
