We never figured the New Yorker kids for a bunch of jocks, but apparently they are. Last night, as we reported, they faced off against New York on a Tribeca soccer field, and, we've learned, Remnick's crew kicked some New York ass, winning 6 to 4.

Tonight they look to continue their athletic domination, meeting their cross-Cond rivals from Vanity Fair for a softball game in Central Park at 7.

We're told Gopnik's kid wasn't at yesterday's soccer game, so, as he's well rested for tonight, VF should be scared.

Summer Soldiers,

It's Tuesday, there's no rain yet. And Roger Angell has been emailing me inspirational war speeches all day ("Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more..."). This can only mean: Game's on!
