Vidal vs. Buckley It Ain't: Literary Feuds, circa 2005
Porn-loving writers, can't you all just get along? Today's 'Page Six' reports on the ugly words Legs McNeil, author of The Other Hollywood, has for his not-quite rival in highbrow porn appreciation, Martin Amis:
"[Bleep] him and his mother," McNeil told Post Sunday Books section scribe Peter Stewart. McNeil is still upset about Amis' treatment of the porn business in an article he once wrote for Talk magazine, which Amis later developed into material for his last novel, "Yellow Dog." Calling the Talk piece "really [bleep]," McNeil fumed, "I think he's a good writer, but he did a [bleep] job on the porn industry . . . I had long-term relationships with a lot of the people he interviewed, and they were really p - - - - d . . . He was having these little soirees at the Chateau Marmont, giggling about [sex acts] and the whole language of the porn industry."
Legs, c'mon! There's plenty of porn for the both of you. There've been like 40,000 adult movies released this week alone. Also, shouldn't 'Page Six' mention that their parent company's publishing arm is releasing McNeil's book?
