We were perusing Slate editor Jacob Weisberg's Sunday New York Times book review, mildly bored by the rundown of anti-Bush books (politics are icky!), when lo and behold, we find Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter getting spanked over his new book, What We've Lost. Oooh, now we're paying attention:

One can almost hear the author wheezing as he staggers across the finish line, with a chapter that recapitulates his previous complaints about the Bush administration Harper's-Index-style. [...] But what grates here is not so much the sloppiness or the flat prose as the absence of even the slightest complication.

Ouch. Does Weisberg have personal beef with Carter? Is there some sort of catfight brewing? And can it result in some sort of mud-wrestling event to settle things? Then we might pay attention.
