Author Jonathan Ames on how New York has changed in the last few decades, from a hilarious interview:
I was born in New York City, though at what was then known as Babies Hospital. They sent me a birthday card every year until I was 18 and then they didn t care any more. I don t know what the name of that hospital is now, and I wonder if it was a group of volunteers that sent out those cards. A different era. Now you might get an email that your baby has been exposed to hepatitis C, certainly not an annual cheery birthday card.
