A Britney Spears fan on the BritneySpears.org fansite reports an incident yesterday in which Britney's mother, Lynne Spears, allegedly drives over the foot of a paparazzo that tries to document the family's purchase of a puppy at a Santa Monica pet store:

We're not going to pretend to understand the impossibly complicated politics of the Britney sites or ignite a turf war. But we heartily recommend that you go see the pictures. They're priceless.

[The Spears family] go[es] outside, get into the SUV, and they get mobbed by the photographers, you with me? So....one of the dumb ****s decides he's gonna go for a money shot and gets SO close to the SUV that while Lynne drives off, she DRIVES over his foot!!!

So yeah.....poor guy's laying on the floor in extreme pain.....well...yeah dumba$$, you asked for it. Britney freaks out..........police and ambulance come in incl. fire trucks. Lynne steps out of the car, has to show her driver's license, huge huge huge scene. Britney stays in the car while she has about 10 photographers hounding her, insulting her and screaming at her, it's 10 guys against one lady. Britney starts screaming at them and cursing and blah blah blah until she just explodes and begins to cry.

A Defamer reader who was in the area confims the hubub:

This happened last night right at the pet store by my girlfriend's apt. They closed off 9th St below Wilshire and everyone at the Coffee Bean across the street was talking about Britney’s mom hitting a paparazzi. By the time we saw it, only a few cameras remained, but there were at least 7 cop cars still there. Quite a hoopla for Santa Monica.
